The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday that both lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Buendía to P. Burgos Drive in Manila, will be closed to traffic from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12 to give way for the 127th Independence Day Celebration at Luneta Park.
Additionally, road closures will be implemented in the following areas:
- Bonifacio Drive (from P. Burgos to Anda Circle)
- TM Kalaw (from Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard)
- P. Burgos (from Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard)
- Finance Road (from Taft Avenue to P. Burgos Drive)
- Maria Orosa (from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos Drive)
The entire stretch of Katigbak Drive, Independence Road, and South Road will also be closed to vehicular traffic from 12:01 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Motorists affected by these closures are advised to avoid the area and take the following alternate routes:
Northbound vehicles from Roxas Boulevard may turn right at Buendía, then left at Taft Avenue, or right at Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), then left at Osmeña Highway to reach their destination.
Southbound vehicles from R-10 to Bonifacio Drive heading to Anda Circle may turn left onto Soriano Avenue, then right onto Solana Street, left onto Muralla Street, left onto Magallanes Drive, and finally right onto P. Burgos Avenue to their destination.
Trucks going to North Harbor from the South Luzon Expressway may proceed straight on Osmeña Highway, then turn right onto Quirino Avenue, continuing straight to Nagtahan St., then onto Lacson Avenue, left onto Yuseco Street, and straight ahead to Capulong Street. From there, they can turn right or left onto R-10 to reach their destination.
Trucks coming from the Parañaque area are advised to turn right at EDSA and proceed to Magallanes Service Road, then make a left turn onto Osmeña Highway towards Nagtahan, followed by Lacson Avenue to their destinations. Those heading south may use the same route.
The MMDA has assured the public that it will deploy 1,100 personnel from various offices to manage traffic and monitor the situation in the area. Additionally, ambulances, tow trucks, barriers, plastic cones, and other equipment will be utilized to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
