Power retailer Manila Electric. Co. said it expects a “flattish” generation charge, with no significant movement in the June billing of its customers.
Meralco said in a statement Thursday it is still waiting for the final billings from its suppliers for the computation of power rates for the June billing period.
The company said, however, it sees a possible increase in the transmission charges, which could be mitigated byu lower spot market prices and the continued implementation of its P19.96-billion refund.
“Initial information shows a possibility of an increase in the transmission charge due to a possible uptick in reserve market prices for the May supply month in comparison with the previous month based on publicly available data,” it said.
Reserve market prices affect the ancillary service charges of the transmission grid operator which are passed on to consumers, according to Meralco.
